Mongolian BBQ Beef

Quick, easy and delicious this Mongolian BBQ Beef recipe makes a perfect weeknight dinner.  It’s sticky, saucy and can be made in 40 mins.

It’s made with Farmway Foods Philly Beef Steaks sourced from local Ontario farms.  Our Philly Beef Steaks are thinly sliced and beautifully marbled which makes it a perfect option for stir fry recipes.

Cooking Instructions

  1. Using your BBQ remove one set of cooking grids and replace it with the Napoleon drop-in roasting pan.
  3. Cut your grass-fed Ontario beef into bit-size pieces, if you’re using our Philly Beef Steaks.  If you are using a New York Striploin or another steak, you will need to slice as thinly as possible. 
  5. Coat your beef with cornstarch and set it aside while you prep everything else.
  6. In a medium-size bowl, whisk together soy sauce, beef stock, lime juice and brown sugar.
  8. Turn on main burners, preheating the ones below the drop-in roasting pan to medium-high.  If you are using our stovetop heat your pan to medium-high.
  10. Add your peanut oil and fry beef in batches until a little crisp on both sides.    You may add more oil and fry again for a more crispy beef texture.
  12. Once all of the beef is cooked, remove it from the pan and set it aside.
  14. Remove 1 tbsp. of the soy sauce mixture and combine it with the cornstarch in a separate bowl.
  16. Add 1 tsp. of sesame oil to the pan and fry the garlic for a few moments.  Add the remaining soy sauce mixture to the drop-in pan.  Add the cornstarch mixture and allow the sauce to bein to simmer.
  18. Add the beef back and allow it to simmer in the soy sauce mixture for about 3 minutes until the sauce gets thick and sticky.
  20. Serve the beef over a bed of cooked jasmine rice, top with chilli pepper slices, sesame seed and fresh chives.

Note: This recipe uses a BBQ and Napoleon’s Drop-in Roasting Pan but you may use a cast-iron pan on your grill or stove-top.

Grated fresh ginger

2 cloves

Beef stock


Lime, juiced

1/2 cup

Sliced red chili peppers, fresh chives, sesame seeds for garnish
